It has been absolutely wonderful to witness the mid-Michigan community rallying around this special family. I have never been so proud to be from the greater Lansing area. Business, schools, organizations, and individuals have stepped up to help out the Nickless family this past week. Over 170 companies participated in the construction of the new Nickless family home. Another 86 companies contributed food, support services, or financial contributions to the project. Hundreds of people donated their time to work one or more six hour shifts.

In addition to the construction of the new home, our office has received dozens of additional gifts for the family. From free dentistry to free books and computers to a free riding lawn mower, the Lansing area is ensuring that this deserving family will be set in other aspects of their lives as well.

Just under $60,000 has been raised to pay off the Nickless family home mortgage.

The house was completed Thursday, October 2, 2008 and the keys were handed to the Nickless family on Friday, October 3rd.
